ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

As corporate lawyers, equipping ourselves better and exploring new vistas should be our mantra to live and work in the volatile times. It is in this spirit that The Law Society of Singapore and the Singapore Academy of Law have come together to organise the inaugural Corporate Law Day 2020.

At the international level, prospects of trade wars between global titans, a messy Brexit and tensions spilling over in the streets of Hong Kong have roiled the capital markets and undoubtedly raised the spectre of a global recession materialising in the fourth quarter or early next year.

Domestically, whilst the headlines are certainly not all gloomy, Singapore has also seen her fair share of challenges. Just look at the continuing downturn in the Offshore Oil & Gas sector and the travails of a well-known listed company whose restructuring efforts resemble a roller-coaster ride for their multitude of retail stakeholders.
