LSNEDS-FIDReC Scheme

The Law Society has collaborated with FIDReC on the Mediator’s Indication (MI) process, with the objective of tapping on the expertise of experienced lawyers who form the LSNEDS-FIDReC Panel of Neutrals, and provide them with an avenue to hone their neutral evaluation skills. Through this collaboration, suitable cases may be referred to these Neutrals, to assess and conduct the MI sessions.

The LSNEDS-FIDReC Panel of Neutrals (“Panel”)

Members of the Law Society of Singapore (“LSS”) seeking admission to the LSNEDS FIDReC Panel of Neutrals must satisfy the following qualifying requirements:

• he/she must have a valid practising certificate;

• he/she has been in practice as an Advocate and Solicitor (as defined in the Legal Profession Act) for a period of not less than 7 years in aggregate;

• he/she must provide undertakings, namely, to act as a Neutral if so appointed by the Law Society at the scale of fees as determined by the LSS in consultation with FIDReC from time to time;

• he/she must have experience in one or more of the following categories, regardless of whether such experience was gained in contentious or transactional work:

  • banking and finance, including lending and taking of security;

  • investments, including private banking, wealth management and capital market services; and/or

  • insurance, including life or general insurance;

• LSS reserves the right to remove from the Panel any Neutral who does not hold a valid practising certificate during the tenure of his/her appointment.
