REGISTRATION FOR I-VOTING
ANNUAL ELECTION OF COUNCIL 2021 FOR SENIOR AND MIDDLE CATEGORIES
|A||ELECTION TO BE CONDUCTED BY WAY OF INTERNET VOTING (“I-VOTING”)|
|1.||The Annual Election of Council will be conducted by way of i-voting. The Election will be held on FRIDAY, 30 OCTOBER 2020 between the hours of 7.00 am and 7.00 pm (Singapore time, both times inclusive) (“Election Hours”). The Election Hours will be strictly observed.|
|B||REGISTRATION FOR I-VOTING|
|2.||Voter registration is now open at https://ivoting.lawsoc.org.sg/register.aspx and will close on Friday, 23 October 2020, 5.00 pm.|
|3.||During registration, members will first be asked to enter their NRIC/FIN number and date of birth (in DD/MM/YY format). If the member’s record is found, he/she will be directed to the registration page to update his/her email address, password and mobile number. This will be followed by a two-step authentication process, after which a notification e-mail containing the i-voting website address will be sent to the voter.|
|4.||Members will not be able to vote online if they do not complete the registration process.|
|5.||In light of the safe distancing measures to cope with the public health situation, members are strongly encouraged to register this week and cast their ballot via i-voting to avoid voting in-person at the Law Society premises.|
|6.||Members are strongly encouraged to test their devices’ compatibility with the i-voting web portal before election day. Please refer to the i-voting User Guide here.|
|7.||The i-voting web portal will be open for voting from 7.00 am and will close at 7.00 pm sharp (Singapore time) on Friday, 30 October 2020. To vote, a voter has to log on to the i-voting web portal followed by a one-time password sent to the registered mobile number and e-mail address.|
|8.||Upon successful verification by the system, the ballot screen will appear. The voter should check the box next to the name of the candidate that he/she is voting for. The voter is advised to review the ballot carefully before submission. Once the ballot is submitted, no changes are allowed. The system will also not permit the voter to login again once the ballot is cast. Please refer to the i-voting User Guide here for instructions on the voting process.|
|9.||Voting terminals will be set up at the Society’s premises for members who are required to vote but do not have access to a computer, mobile phone or tablet. Please bring along your NRIC or any photo identification document to vote personally at the Society’s premises from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm. Voting at the Society’s premises will be by way of i-voting only.|
|D||SECRECY OF VOTING|
|10.||Your vote is secret. The Secretariat administering the voting processes will not receive or be able to track the identity or the ballot of the individual voter.|

|E||ELIGIBILITY TO VOTE|
Every advocate and solicitor who has in force a practising certificate on 12 October 2020 and who on that date is of not less than 15 years’ standing (Senior Category) shall be required to vote at the election for up to four (4) candidates of like standing.

Every advocate and solicitor who has in force a practising certificate on 12 October 2020 and who on that date is of less than 15 years’ but not less than 5 years’ standing (Middle Category) shall be required to vote at the election for up to one (1) candidate of like standing.
