Practising Certificate

 

Solicitors Registered Under Section 130N Legal Profession Act

 

With effect from 15 October 2008, an advocate and solicitor of Singapore may apply to register with the Attorney General under section 130N Legal Profession Act to practise Singapore law in a Joint Law Venture or its constituent foreign law practice, a Qualifying Foreign Law Practice or a licensed foreign law practice.

 

A solicitor registered under section 130N Legal Profession Act is required to have in force a practising certificate and is subject to the regulation of both the Law Society and the Attorney-General's Chambers. He will be permitted to practise only in prescribed areas of practice and will be required to maintain throughout his period of registration, the prescribed professional indemnity insurance cover.

To apply for a practising certificate, the solicitor registered under section 130N Legal Profession Act is required to complete and submit to the Law Society, the 'Application for Approval to E-file Practising Certificate (Section 130N Legal Profession Act)' form together with the requisite payments of the annual subscription and Compensation Fund contribution.
