Can I Join As Member of the Law Society?
If you are not a practising lawyer, we welcome you to apply to join the Law Society as a Non-Practitioner Member if you are:
an advocate and solicitor of Singapore who does not have in force a practising certificate; or
a foreign lawyer registered with the Attorney-General under Part IXA of the Legal Profession Act but who is not a foreign practitioner member registered/approved under section 130I. 130J or 130L of the Legal Profession Act; or
a qualified person* ordinarily resident in Singapore but is not an advocate and solicitor of Singapore; or
an academic staff of the faculty of law either of the National University of Singapore or Singapore Management University; or
a member of the academic staff teaching law at an institution of higher learning in Singapore; or
qualified as a foreign lawyer and resident in Singapore but who is not registered with the Attorney-General to practise law in Singapore.
* - "qualified person" as defined under section 2 of the Legal Profession Act
If you are a student studying in the faculty of law either of the National University of Singapore or Singapore Management University, we also welcome you to apply to join as a Non-Practitioner Member (Student) at a special preferential rate.
