Wong Hur Yuin
LLB. (Hons)
E-mail : hur.yuin@wst.com.sg

Wong Hur Yuin graduated from the National University of Singapore with her Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree in 1990, and was admitted to practice the next year.

She was involved in Singapore's last appeal to the Privy Council which dealt with breaches of trust taking place over a period of 30 years. She dealt with the subsequent applications for accounts and inquiries, tracing trust assets and examining transactions over the said 30-year period. That fired her interest in matters relating to wills and probate, as well as trusts and trustees' duties especially where they relate to the managing of the estates of deceased or mentally incapable persons. She views those cases, as well as her cases involving matrimonial and child custody/access proceedings, as all being part of her practice of "Family Law", in view of the fact that much of the trust and probate litigation she encounters arise from family disputes. It is her strong belief that in family matters especially, the adversarial system must be tempered, in appropriate circumstances, by compassion and common sense.

Hur Yuin has a highly varied practice covering diverse areas of civil litigation particularly family law, contract claims, estate and trust work (including probate and trust litigation), and intellectual property rights.

An avid music hobbyist and amateur musician, she has a particular interest in copyright issues relating to music and the impact of the Internet and digital technology on it.
