Ms Tamiko Nakamura

Tamiko is an associate director of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations’ (“JFBA”) family legislation committee. She is a practicing lawyer of more than 10 years, specialising in custodial and divorce cases. She conducted a great deal of research into incorporating the international standard of `the best interest of the child` into the Japanese legal system, amendment of Japanese family law and the ratification of the Hague Convention on the civil aspects of international child abduction.

Tamiko graduated from The University of Kyoto (LL.B., 1996), The Legal Training and Research Institute of the Supreme Court of Japan, and the Graduate School of Law, Kyoto University (doctoral course in law philosophy, 2009). She is also the Associate director of The Family Law legislation Committee of JFBA, a member of the Council of JFBA for the Family Bureau of the Supreme Court of Japan, a member of the Project Team of JFBA for the Legislative Council of the Ministry of the Justice about the Domestic Affairs Adjustment Law Amendment Alliance for Equal Parenting in Japan, and a researcher of Japan Law Foundation.
