Judge Tan Siong Thye

Siong Thye presides over the development of the Subordinate Courts of Singapore, which deal with more than 95% of the cases in Singapore. He has a keen interest in ADR, and has introduced many initiatives to ensure that ADR is the primary mode of resolving disputes in the courts, and that the Subordinate Courts perform the function of “multi-door courthouse” directing the parties to the most suitable mode of dispute resolution.
Siong Thye has served the Singapore Legal Service for more than 30 years with extensive judicial, leadership, and management experience. He obtained his Masters in Law (with Merit) from the University College of London under the Legal Service Postgraduate scholarship. Siong Thye also attended the Advance and Executive Management Programme at IMD Switzerland. He was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Gold) in 2003 and the Public Administration Medal (Gold) (Bar) in 2011 for his invaluable contribution to the legal community.
