| Rule 16 The Minister may, after consultation with the Board, and subject to such terms and conditions as he may think fit to impose, exempt any person or class of persons from any of the provisions of Part II or III, and the person or class of persons shall, to the extent of the exemption, be a qualified person or qualified persons. |

| Procedure To submit an appeal to the Minister for Law for an exemption, please send them the documents listed below. Please send certified true copies where appropriate as the documents will not be returned to you. |

| (a) | Cover letter (which should include the specific exemption(s) you are seeking); | ||||||
| (b) | Proof of citizenship and permanent residency (where applicable) (if you are not a Singapore citizen or permanent resident, please indicate any links to Singapore and/or intention to reside in Singapore); | ||||||
| (c) | Degree certificates; | ||||||
| (d) | Academic transcripts for your law degree; | ||||||
| (e) | (For graduates of universities in Australia, New Zealand and the United States) A letter from your university stating your ranking within your batch of graduates; | ||||||
| (f) | Evidence of admission as a legal practitioner in other jurisdictions (where applicable); | ||||||
| (g) | Curriculum vitae or resume; | ||||||
| (h) | References or testimonials (e.g. from your current employer, previous employers, university tutors, etc); and | ||||||
| (i) | A letter of offer from your prospective employer (where applicable).
