Introducing the New Chief Executive Officer ('CEO')
With the departure of CEO Chua Lik Teng on 15 August 2010, we are pleased to welcome Mary Lim as our new CEO. Mary joins us at an interesting juncture, as it more or less coincides with the taking of office of our new President.
Mary is an accountant by training. She has worked in such diverse organisations as banks, accounting firms and estate management firms. She has been in charge of departments such as finance, HR, administration and internal audit. She therefore brings with her a wealth of experience which we hope will be deployed to make the Law Society an ever efficient organisation.
We look forward to working with Mary, and to a lasting and mutually beneficial relationship.

We are pleased to announce the promotion of Alvin Chen to Chief Legal Officer. Alvin will continue to act concurrently as Director of Representation & Law Reform. The appointment of Alvin with allow the new CEO Mary Lim to concentrate on the task of reforming certain aspects of the Society in relation to administration and finance. Alvin will therefore take charge of all matters where knowledge of the law is a requisite to the matter to be dealt with.
Alvin comes well-equipped for his new role. He is a graduate of the National University of Singapore, and was a recipient of the Society's scholarship in 2008 to pursue the Dual LLM programme offered by both the New York University School of Law and the National University of Singapore.
